The lighting will be the bollard type and will be sited towards to the rear of the footpaths all round the car park. We would like to explain to any member who is not sure how the solar panels will be beneficial to the lighting of the car park. The Solar Panels when operating will supply electricity straight into the Scottish Power/grid supply via a meter which will record the amount of electricity going into the Scottish Power/grid supply. The lights will be electrically supplied by Scottish Power and will have a meter, reading the amount of electricity they use. Scottish Power will invoice us with the amount of electricity used and deduct the amount of electricity that has been supplied into the Scottish Power/grid supply by the Solar Panels. Benefit of using Solar Panels: Calculations show that the proposed solar panels should generate more electricity to put into the Scottish supply/grid than will be taken out. This, obviously, is why there should be sufficient extra revenue to help cover some of the maintenance costs in the long term future, when the wind farm money is no longer coming into Barrhill. With the ever-increasing cost of energy the solar panel proposal should help the community avoid excessive expenses, particularly as the lighting will be controlled by a time clock so that the bollards are only illuminated when necessary. Directors: Barrhill Community Interest Company. Note: The October BCIC statement is now available here. Memorial Hall Refurbishment I'm sure you will be pleased to learn that our planning application for the Memorial Hall has been made and is now on the Planning Dept web site.
