New Train Timetable

A new timetable starts on the 14th December and there are major changes.

Monday to Saturday there will now be 8 trains in each direction instead of 6 and all trains are to/from Kilmarnock.
Four of the trains continue through Kilmarnock to Glasgow but it is still quicker to change to the electric trains at Ayr.

On Sunday there will be 5 trains instead of 3 but none go through Kilmarnock.

The trains are spread much more evenly throughout the day, approximately every 2 hours.

Currently the One Scotland pass can be used on ALL services but there is no information as to whether this will remain the case on the new timetable.

For the new timetable select the trains page and follow the link for further details

Barrhill Community Action Plan

McKenzie Wilson Consultants have been appointed to update the Barrhill Community Action Plan. In the coming weeks they will be collecting information from a variety of sources in order to produce the plan. One of the main sources will be the residents of the Barrhill community. If you were unhappy with any part of the old Action Plan then make sure that you make your opinions known. The Action Plan should be for the whole community not just the few who are active in the community even when they have its best interests at heart.

We may have had no say in the coming of the windfarms but we do have a voice in how the funds can be used to benefit Barrhill. The Action Plan is necessary as any funding applications require us to have one.

Some ideas that have been created that could be included in the action plan are outlined in the document Arecleoch Barrhill Tourism Strategy which can be viewed by clicking the link.

A714 Overight Road Closure

Overnight Road Closure A714
28 September – 8 November 2015
8pm to 6am

The A714 is due to be closed overnight starting Monday 28 September 2015, at Glendrissaig Bridge 1.25 miles south of Girvan. The work is needed to widen the bend at the bridge and allow transportation of large loads to Assel Valley Wind Farm.
We have asked for the road to be closed from 8pm until 6am each night for a period of up to six weeks, although the contractor will endeavour to have the work completed earlier if at all possible.
Diversions will be signposted and vehicles over 7.5T must follow the A77 and A75 for access. Arrangements will be in place to allow access for emergency vehicles at all times.

For more information, call 0788 4267415

Broadband & mobile signal

From Scottish Rural Parliament:

Broadband and mobile phone signal rated as your top issue last year. To address your concerns we have started two petitions:

1. "UK Government: Immediately review the Mobile Infrastructure Project."

2. "BT: Clarify broadband delivery status in rural Scotland."

..and we need your help to get it off the ground.

Broadband and mobile signal are essential services that all rural communities should have. We need to take action to persuade BT and the UK Government to improve access for rural communities as soon as possible.
